Junrei Henro One Day

In the morning light, I step out under the Eastern sun. The Amaterasu, somber and dutiful in my march on the artificial road laid out before me. Summer sweat glistening early and often, I am unsure of my feeling.

Do I go North or do I go South, West or continue on this Eastern path. I am greeted by the power and might of the mountain. Here is my first stop, my first realization, I continue to the next stop and then another. Soon I am crossing the man made highway of concrete and asphalt greeted by a Queen, reaching another mountain. I arrive in the Pure Land of the Amida Nyorai.

Giving me shade from the heat, I make another mountaintop stop, then another. As the goddess begins her descent into slumber, I return. My final stop a small inconspicuous building offering the memory of local grounds. I say goodnight.

In honor of this process I wish to offer some haiku to honor the Master, given the nature of this venture and geographical location it seems fitting:

Dayrise, morning light.
Yellow and red streaming down.
I set out on foot.

Eastern mountain rise.
I arrive under maple.
Five points, and gardens.

Panoramic view.
Looking to the West awaits.
Walks again past time.

Finally arrived.
Sun falling down, pond side thoughts.
(Oh shit) Suzumebachi.

An Idea Outline

As a long time X-Men fan since the late 80s early 90s. I greatly enjoyed seeing the mutant heroes from Marvel show up on the big screen in Bryan Singer's X-Men in 2000. I also enjoyed X2 in a different way from X-Men, but felt "X-Men: The Last Stand" (aka the third movie in the trilogy) was missing a beat (or two) despite all the time, effort, and money that was spent on that project. Same for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". I enjoyed "X-Men: First Class", and "Days of Future Past". But again thought some beats were missed in "The Wolverine" (although thumbs up to Ninja/Japan Wolvie adventures), Apocalypse (strong outing, but not quite as much as First Class or Days of Future Past), and lastly (I know this isn't the consensus/popular opinion, but....) Logan. I'm going to try and just stick to the X-Men Cinematic Universe (movies), instead of looking at Legion or the mid-90's television movie Generation X. Oh and thumbs up Ryan Reynolds and the creative team's behind Deadpool/2/Once Upon a Deadpool.
Secondly, this may be a silly exercise since Marvel looks like they're going to be able to bring the X-Men (and Fantastic Four) into the fold, and team them up with the other heroes in the MCU. "People" have been clamoring for Avengers vs X-Men, despite it's relatively recent standing in the Marvel mythos. I'd rather see the Marvel heroes dealing with the Mutant Right's, or Mutant Crimes against Humanity (Magneto vs. the Avengers) (Red Skull doing something shady with the Mutants (not necessarily Axis or taking Xavier's brain etc, just really hitting home that Red Skull is a terrifying nazi and that mutants are often seen as "lesser" or a threat to perfection/greater humanity), which might be difficult given that Days of Future Past was released, only a few years prior.
Anywho, a friend of mine challenged me years ago since I wasn't a fan of X-Men: The Last Stand, to set my own narrative. That's the point of this exercise. So I want to lead off with my revisioning of the X-Men cinematic universe starting from "X2: X-Men United"

Land of the Free, jumpin Jacks, and the GLF

Made a visit to the Red, White, and Few.
Didn't know which way to Go, so I tried to collect two hundred.
But fell and might have missed a step.
Don't hold it against me.
Just trying to be like Dre and Snoop double G...

And now back to our regularly scheduled program:

Handcrafted in my life

I did not know it at the time, but on this photo journey which I had planned for some time (put off because of winter), would end up being a dedication to a wonderful man in my life. A kind and generous hard-working man. With the kind of sense of humor where he could joke and even smile about the tragedy and hardships in his life. The kind of sense of humor that would allow him to go out on April Fool's Day.

There are many words I want to write, to say, to express my thoughts and feelings on the matter, but find myself lacking. Instead I can only think of photos, and while initially these were meant to be a gift of sorts to another. I think given the circumstance she will understand, and the setting is entirely appropriate for said man in my thoughts.

"Sentient beings are innumerable: I vow to help them all."

"Afflictions are inexhaustible: I vow to end them all."

"...Your eyes will see the King in His beauty;
They will see the land that is very far off.
Your heart will meditate on terror:
“Where is the scribe?
Where is he who weighs?
Where is he who counts the towers?”
You will not see a fierce people,
A people of obscure speech, beyond perception,
Of a stammering tongue that you cannot understand..."

"Ways to practice are boundless: I vow to master them all."

"Enlightenment is unsurpassable: I vow to attain it."

In all things, I will find a love and blessing for you to cherish.
Please take care as you ascend on wings of gold.
The warmth of divine favor wraps you in protection.
And favorable winds carry you higher and higher.
Until all you see is a shining Kingdom of Light and All-Knowing.
There is a never ending supply of compassion.
Rest well old friend.
Hatred there is not.
